History The town was founded probably in the end of the 12 th century. The first written record comes from a document by Queen Guta of Habsburg and dates back to August 1, (The town of Guta is in Czech called Jitšino město)
Albrecht of Wallenstein The most famous period of Jičín was between 1620 – At that time Jičín became a residence of Duke Albrecht of Wallenstein. The duchy was a state within a state.
