History of Constitution The Spanish Constitution of 1812, popularly known as La Pepa, was enacted by the Parliament of Spain on March, 19th, 1812 in Cadiz. The historical importance of it is great, being the first Constitution promulgated in Spain, besides being one of the most liberal of its time. Regarding the origin of its nickname, the so-called “La Pepa”, is due to the fact that it was enacted on the day of San Jose. The constitution provided for universal male suffrage, indirect, national sovereignty, constitutional monarchy, separation of powers, freedom of the press, the reinforcement of the distribution of land, and freedom of industry, among other things.

Duke of Wellington ( ) Wllington was a military, political and statistical Irish. He was one of the most remarkable personalities in European history of the 18th Century, as one of the most prominent British general during the Napoleonic Wars, particularly in front of the Spanish War of Independence. He became Commander in Chief of the British Army and wield twice as Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.

Bicentennial of the Spanish Constitution: CADIZ, CONSTITUTIONAL CITY It has been two centuries since the first Constitution of Spain was proclaimed in the city of Cadiz: Cadiz Constitution of 1812, known as La Pepa enacted on 19 March. In those eventful years for the Spanish crown, the text was not only a qualitative leap in the society of the time, but a model for Latin American constitutions consecutive and some European. Furthermore, it proclaimed the only Spanish city that resisted the advance of Napoleon. A milestone that Cadiz is preparing to celebrate in Cadiz has started some years ago to prepare the bicentennial of the First Spanish Constitution, to be held in 2012
