LET’S LEARN FRACTIONS MAIN MENU. Say, Read and Write Fractions. Equal Shapes of a Whole Set. Recognize fractions.

RECOGNIZE FRACTIONS What is a fractions? This is one whole Fractions = equal parts of a whole

One half What will you call if you cut the tomato, apple, burger and hotdog into two equal parts. One half = 1 part out of 2 equal parts

What will you call if you cut the pizza into four equal parts. One whole Three quarters 3 parts out of 4 equal parts One quarter 1 part out of 4 equal parts Each part is one equal

The cake is not cut into half. They are not equal parts of a whole. The two parts are not cut equally. One part is smaller than the other. The glass of juice is not quarter full. The glass of juice is about half full.

EXERCISE 1 Match the following fractions to the correct shaded figures. One half One whole One quarters Three quarters

SAY, READ AND WRITE FRACTIONS one half, half or one over two one quarter or one over four three quarter or three over four 1. Saying, reading and writing the fractions. a. We can say and read fractions in many ways.

One of the two equal parts is given to Irfan. Irfan gets one half. We can write it as 1212 Numerator Denominator 1212 b. Mother cuts a burger into two equal parts.

c. Mother cuts a pizza into four equal parts. Numerator Denominator 1414 One of the four equal parts is given to Irfan. Irfan gets one over four or one quarter. We can write it as 1414 We can say as one over four or one quarter.

EXERCISE 2 2. Write the correct fractions and match. 1. Write the fractions of the shaded parts. One over four Three over four One over two c. b. a

We can write it as 1212 a. Irfan has 2 colour papers with same size. He cuts the first colour paper into 2 equal parts. He cuts the secord colour paper into 4 equal parts We can write it as 1 part out of 2 One half 1 part out of 2 is equal to 2 parts out of 4 is equal to parts out of 4 Two quarters Or = So, 2. Equal parts of the fractions. Look, one half and two quarters have the same size. We can say,

We can write it as = is equal to b. Irfan has 2 colour papers with same size. He did not cut the first colour paper. He cuts the secord colour paper into 4 equal parts. So,

EXERCISE 3 Complete the fractions. ==== a.a.b.b. c.c.d.d

EQUAL SHAPES OF A WHOLE SET one quarter 1414 Whole set = a.a. three quarter = Whole set b.

Whole set EXERCISE 4 Whole set Write the fractions. = = a.a. b.b
