Religion & Society Beliefs and the Person Religious traditions are beliefs and practices, that shape human experiences.

Eight Aspects Beliefs shape human culture and are expressed by the eight aspects. Beliefs are connected to existence and the purpose of life and are principles for the individual to comprehended a complex society. The beliefs act as templates to understand daily behaviour.

Complex Questions Questions concerning birth/life and death can be investigated and address by examining the beliefs of the tradition. A believe of the tradition will interact within his tradition but also interact with the wider society. A case study of an individual/Group etc is investigated. To demonstrate the interplay between life experiences and the beliefs of a tradition.

Pluralistic Society In a pluralistic society, there are many completing groups for influence on social policy. What impact does a particular traditional have on the debate? What impact does the social policy have on the tradition?

How does the tradition shape the behaviour or culture of an individual and society? Search for Meaning: It is an investigation of core beliefs and how they shape the tradition and interacts with society. The four core beliefs The beliefs of a tradition is the structure that an individual applies to a complex modern world. These beliefs are expressed by the eight aspects. They give an individual insight into the core beliefs of the tradition.

Continuity and maintenance of a religious belief It is an investigation of a core belief and the development of it over time Key Words; strengthen, re-affirmation, application and reformation. Are beliefs strengthen by discussion within the tradition? Or should the tradition keep the status quo? What impact does it have on the tradition?

Life experiences and the tradition It investigates personal growth and development of an individual within a tradition. A person can grow and change because of an experience. The impact on the person etc and beliefs from a tradition. Key words; joy, wonder, suffering, death and the implication for the traditions core beliefs.

The interpretation of life experiences Core beliefs of a tradition are the mechanism to understand personal experiences and society. Therefore, they have a major impact on the interpretation of life experience.

Challenge and Response Religious traditions change and develop over time. They respond to the needs of their membership, and to changes in society. Beliefs can be re-affirmed or reformulated or strengthen by internal or external challenges. The response of the tradition to the historical challenge can alter the shape of the tradition. What is the impact for the core beliefs of the historical challenge?

Social, Historical and Religious Context The context is the time and place of the historical challenge. How has the response to the challenge altered the tradition and its core beliefs? What core belief is being challenge and why? What impact has the response of the tradition had on the wider society?

Reflect back to continuity and maintenance of the belief and case study Is the development of the core belief being strengthen, reaffirmed or formulated? Is there an internal or external challenge to the belief? In the case study, what was the challenge to the individual etc and his life experience? Did the individual response have an impact on the tradition or wider society?

Contemporary Challenge Is it different to the historical challenge? How does modern society and contemporary challenges confront religious traditions? Is it that tradition has always have faced challenges but at present the traditions are a minority within society; therefore are they challenged more frequently?

Social Policy The tradition has been challenged to engaged in social policy debate. What has been the response of the tradition? Are their different groups within the tradition? Has the response been consistent within the tradition? Has the tradition offered any insights to the debate in their response to the challenge? Has the debate, strengthen, reaffirmed or reformulated a core belief?

Impact on the Debate What impact has the tradition had on the social policy debate? Has the tradition been able to bring all groups opinion on the debate regarding the core belief to a agreeable conclusion? What methods has the tradition used to present their viewpoint to the wider society on the social policy?

Vision Has the tradition been able to present their response to the challenge to wider society? Is the debate referring to the broader issue of the vision of the tradition? Is their a conflict between the vision of tradition and the wider society? What part of the vision, do core beliefs play? What is the impact of the vision and the response of the tradition to the particular challenge on the social policy?

Continuity and maintenance of a religious belief Has the historical challenge been of the continuity and maintenance of the belief? Is the contemporary challenge, the present maintenance and continuity of the belief? Has both set of challenges, strengthen, reaffirmed or formulated the core beliefs for the tradition? Has the personal experience of the individual etc has challenged the member of the tradition to strengthen, reaffirm or reformulated his beliefs?
