BioCote® Antimicrobial Silver Ion Technology Providing proven antimicrobial protection

BioCote® is a silver ion antimicrobial additive, it is incorporated into AquaVENT® tubing at the time of manufacture While the term ‘antibacterial’ refers only to bacteria, ‘antimicrobial’ refers to a wider range of organisms including bacteria, moulds, fungi and others. What is BioCote®

The Global BioCote® Partner Network Why do these big brands work with BioCote®?

Internationally Recognised Endorsed Technology Tried & Trusted Antimicrobial Standard. The BioCote® Brand

BioCote® only approves products that achieve a minimum of a 95% reduction in bugs All BioCote® additive performance data is independently generated. BioCote® uses silver which is a safe & naturally occurring BioCote® is a long lasting antimicrobial which will not propagate resistant micro-organisms By partnering with BioCote® you are associated with a branded antimicrobial technology used around the world. Take Home Messages

For the lifetime of the product BioCote® will reduce the numbers of microbes, bacteria, mould, and fungi on the product The addition of BioCote® does not affect the performance or appearance of the product in any way BioCote® inhibits the growth of microbes that can cause unpleasant odours or bacterial degradation of the product BioCote® reduces levels of bacteria, such as, MRSA, E.coli and Salmonella on the surface of products by up to 99.9% over a 24 hour period. Silver Ions Cause Conformation Changes in Microbial Proteins Silver Ions Interfere with DNA Replication Silver Ions Promote Formation of Reactive Oxygen Species. Multi-modal Action of Silver

Silver ions combine with microbial proteins located in the cell wall and cytoplasm, which interferes with their normal functioning. These proteins are vital for the healthy functioning of the cell. This loss of function results in an overall inhibition of microbial growth. 1. Silver Ions Cause Conformation Changes in Microbial Proteins

Silver ions are known to interfere with the way microbes copy their genetic material or DNA. Microbes, like most living cells, have to make copies of their DNA during reproduction. Silver ions stop the microbes replicating by blocking the copying of their genetic material. 2. Silver Ions Interfere with DNA Replication

Silver ions are known to promote the formation of harmful chemicals called reactive oxygen species (ROS) inside microbial cells. ROS are harmful to living cells because they cause significant damage to cell structures. Damage caused by ROS is a major contributor to functional decline, characteristic of aging, that results in further inhibition of microbial growth. 3. Silver Ions Promote Formation of Reactive Oxygen Species

Determining Efficacy of BioCote® Treated Surfaces – Independent Study

The World Health Organisation estimated an H1N1 pandemic could cost the UK economy over £70 billion. BioCote®- approved silver ion technology is effective at significantly reducing numbers of infectious influenza A H1N1 virus. A measure with the potential to limit the spread of viral infection is worthy of including in an infection control Strategy. H1N1 Study

To understand how effective BioCote® approved silver ion antimicrobial technology is against influenza A H1N1 virus when incorporated into various manufacturing materials. BioCote® approved silver ion technology is effective at significantly reducing numbers of infectious influenza A H1N1 virus. H1N1 Study
