Salvation History Chapter 2 Lesson 1

God made time. Time is good, and in the “fullness of time” God the Son became man in the Divine Person of Jesus Christ. Everything in time points to Christ.

Salvation History Read together on page 18. Old Testament: points to the coming of Christ New Testament: relates the coming of Christ It is Christ’s story. It puts everything, all time and events, in relation to Christ.

Is the Bible a book of stories? The people in the Bible were real people. It is not a collection of fairy tales. It is an account of real events that are the history of our Faith.

Divine Revelation Sacred Scripture: The Word of God written down. Public Revelation ended with the death of the last apostle. It contains that which is necessary for salvation. Sacred Tradition: The entirety of the Word of God. Private revelation still occurs – God speaks to individuals to guide them on the path to heaven.

The Creed It is the summary of salvation history. It helps us to read the Scripture correctly. It puts the truth of our Faith into words that may be hard to find in the Bible. Let us say the Creed together. It is on page 175 in your text.
