Breakout Session #4 E&D Partnerships in CMMAP Thursday, July 31, 2008, 9:30 – 11:45 am How will we package and port the CMMAP Climate and Weather Teachers Workshop to other locations?

Discussion topics  What is needed to successfully implement our CMMAP workshop?  What are the possibilities? Who wants or needs to use it?  What are our priorities and what is our plan?

What is needed to successfully export it?  Local Institution Partners/Facilities –University – university credit –Established professional development program –School District(s)  Leadership – CMMAP/Local Coordinator  Team (expertise in science, teaching, and administrative support)  Content/syllabus/pedagogical approach/relevance to local community  Evaluation  Marketing/recruitment plan  Budget (how much is funded by CMMAP and what else is needed?) –Supplies/Equipment for LSOP kits –Stipends, food, travel expenses, etc  Sustainability component  Prospectus (for promotion and fund raising)  Tasks and timeline

What are the possibilities?  CMMAP workshop in other locations  Enthusiastic partners ensuring successful implementation  Potential for sustaining the workshop in future years  Identification and access to additional funding/staffing as needed  CMMAP workshop here in Ft Collins with teachers from other regions  Customization of our workshop’s components that can be adapted for implementation at other sites

Our plan  Plan a 2009 Ft Collins Workshop –With educators/scientists/graduate students strategically involved with CMMAP institutions in other regions –Expectation that representatives from other regions will do some local kind of implementation at home  January 2009 CMMAP Team meeting –Meet with strategic partners in NYC (Robert Pincus, Jay Fein, Bill Rossow, Eric Tromeur) –Further clarification for broader and sustained outreach on West coast (Tom Ackerman and Richard Somerville)  Write a white paper to serve as a prospectus describing the workshop (Scott Denning and Brian Jones)
