PARCC Transition and Implementation Support Webinar #1 July 28, :30 pm EST 1

Full Group Conversation of State Progress Small Group Breakouts – Communications and Stakeholder Engagement – Execution of the work and Monitoring Routines – Governance and Structure Wrap-Up and Upcoming Meetings Today’s Agenda 2

In many states, there are more moving pieces than ever before happening concurrently: Coordination is essential Look across the areas of work and funding to consider how they interact Faster is not better: What matters most is being thoughtful, realistic, and comprehensive Implementation will depend on state/district needs and capacity Detail is important: Year-by-year is not enough Communicate your timeline publicly: This effort is too large and complex for “whisper down the lane” Why Do We Need an Implementation Timeline/Strategic Plan? 3

Foundational Elements (e.g. establish leadership team, build guiding coalition, develop communications plan) Align Instructional Materials Train educators and administrators Transition assessment system Transition technology to support assessment and accountability systems Align teacher preparation, evaluation and licensing programs Align the transition space between K-12 and postsecondary Monitor and sustain progress What Might a Timeline/Strategic Plan Include? 4

6

State Example: Recent Progress in New Jersey Jeff Hauger, Director, Office of Assessments and Mary Jane Kurabinski, Director, Office of Literacy 7

Where are you in your timeline development? What have you changed, added, or removed? What has become more refined? Is there an iterative process for continual review and modification of your timeline? Opportunity for Additional State Sharing 8

Room #1: Communications and Stakeholder Engagement – Margaret Horn, Vice President, State Leadership and Policy Development, Achieve Room #2: Execution of the work and Monitoring Routines – Stephen Pruitt, Vice President, Content, Research and Development, Achieve Main Room (breakout #3): Governance and Structure – Marie O’Hara, Research Associate, Content, Research and Development, Achieve Transition to Break-out Rooms 9

Do you have specific questions for other states that would be instructive as you continue to develop your state’s timeline? Are there specific areas of work where you think your state’s plan/timeline would benefit from learning from other states? Wrap Up 10

Webinar #2 Delivery Chain Analysis Thursday, August 11, :30 pm EST Webinar #3 Feedback Loops Thursday, August 25, :30 pm EST Upcoming Webinars 11
