Enabling Grids for E-sciencE EGEE-II INFSO-RI Red.es/RedIRIS EGEE-II NA2 2 Red.es/RedIRIS –Red.es is a public institution in charge of promoting Information Society in Spain –One of its mission is to manage RedIRIS, the Spanish National Research and Education Network  The main task of RedIRIS is the provision of connectivity services for the Spanish academic and research community (+300 affiliated institutions) Centers participating in Grid projects are among the main users of the network, and their needs are taking into account when defining its topology  RedIRIS also provides services related to middleware, applications and security – including services for the Grid community  RedIRIS disseminates among its affiliated institutions the use of new ICT services (like Grid services), and it also provides some training courses  RedIRIS is a key element of e-science in Spain

Enabling Grids for E-sciencE EGEE-II INFSO-RI Red.es/RedIRIS EGEE-II NA2 3 RedIRIS and Grid Projects RedIRIS has been participating in EU-funded Grid Projects for several years –CrossGrid –DATAGrid –EGEE / EGEE-II (expected in EGEE III) –EUMEDGRID –EELA At National level, RedIRIS has also been very active –It created IRISGrid, the first group that got together all the main research groups working in this field –As indicated in the Spanish White Book on E-Science, RedIRIS is playing a major role in the creation of the Spanish Network for e-Science (which includes a NGI and a JRU called ES-GRID) –RedIRIS also participates in the IBERGRID collaboration project between the Portuguese and Spanish Research Groups working in this field

Enabling Grids for E-sciencE EGEE-II INFSO-RI Red.es/RedIRIS EGEE-II NA2 4 RedIRIS in EGEE-II SA1: Grid Operations, Support and Management (48 PM) –Grid Security and incident response  Grid incident response coordination in the region  Security vulnerability and risk analysis  CA management  Participation at Joint Security Policy Group (JSPG) and EUGridPMA –Network Monitoring NA2: Dissemination and Outreach (12 PM) –Responsible (together with CSIC) for EGEE dissemination in Spain NA3: Training (12 PM) –Responsible (together with CSIC) for EGEE Training in Spain NA5: Policy and International Cooperation (unfunded) –Support project activity on international cooperation, in particular through collaboration with e-IRG

Enabling Grids for E-sciencE EGEE-II INFSO-RI Red.es/RedIRIS EGEE-II NA2 5 RedIRIS and EGEE-II NA2 (I) Personnel involved –María Bolado  PR Manager of RedIRIS from 1993 until June 2007 Her departure has slowed down some of the on-going activites related to EGEE-II NA-2 Her position has been recently taken over by a new PR manager of RedIRIS: Cristina Lorenzo –Diego López  Coordinator of middleware, applications and security of RedIRIS  Member of the Technical Committee of TERENA (association of European National Research and Education Networks, “NREN”), leader of the TERENA Task Force on Middleware and Collaboration (TF-EMC2) and Member of the Internet 2 Middleware Committee (MACE) Diego López is actively promoting, through TERENA, an increased cooperation between NRENs and Grid Projects, as well as the coordination of some support services –Antonio Fuentes  Engineer, coordinator of the IRISGrid initiative; contributes to the creation of the Spanish Network for e- Science; participates at EGEE-II, EUMEDGRID, EELA and IberGrid; attends regularly OGF meetings; cooperates with several Grid projects in Latinoamerica –Alberto Pérez  Deputy Director of RedIRIS; member of the TERENA Executive Committee; coordinates EGEE-II NA2 efforts; contributes to the creation of the Spanish Network for e-Science (e.g., in charge of creating the basis for ES-GRID, the Spanish JRU) –Tomás de Miguel (unfunded)  Director of RedIRIS; plays a key role in the creation of the Spanish Network for E-science (including participation at working groups for the creation of NGI and ES-GRID JRU); participates at IBERGRID
