Like our words or actions, clothing makes a statement about who we are and what’s important to us. We make clothing choices based on personal preference (favorite color) or hip style We also make clothing choices based on where we are going and what we are doing: ▪Going to a party, playing a sport, going to a religious service, going to work or coming to school. Some situations like, school, sports practice or work require that you dress a specific way Following the dress code is part of being responsible: Clean clothes Tops and bottoms that meet our school’s dress code DRESSING FOR SUCCESS

Color: Black or khaki in a solid single color Material: cotton, canvas, corduroy, linen, polyester, twill Length: mid-thigh or longer for skirts, shorts, or capri’s STANDARD OF DRESS: BOTTOMS

White, Black, or red Collard shirts in a solid, single color Undershirts/tank tops worn under appropriate tops may be white, black, or red. Cardigans and sweaters may be white, black or red and must be worn over a collared shirt STANDARD OF DRESS: TOPS

▪ Jeans, low rise pants, sagging pants ▪ Jeggings, tights, or leggings ▪ Hooded sweaters, sweatshirts, or cardigans ▪ Sheer shirts. LEAVE THESE AT HOME

We believe the dress code is important When you make a dress code mistake, staff are going to ask you to correct it (put hoodie in locker) Here are examples of respectful & responsible ways to handle adult corrections:  Follow the direction the first time it asked  Count to 5 before saying something  Accept that you made a dress code mistake  Use I statements that describe how you feel  Use an inside voice  Use nice words free of curses or derogatory comments  Ask to speak to the adult privately HANDLING ADULT CORRECTION
