Art Vocabulary Post Impressionism- Extended from Impressionism while having its limitations. They continued using vivid colors, thick application of paint, distinctive brush strokes, and real-life subject matter, but emphasize geometric forms, distort form for expressive effect, and to use unnatural or random colors. Foreground-The area of a picture that appears to be closest to the viewer. Mid-ground-A point midway between the foreground and the background. Background-Things that seem most distant, as if in the back of the picture.
