 When transitioning from one body paragraph to another, it is important to use transitional words and phrases to connect your ideas. Kino is heroic when he defies the Pearl buyers' offer. When Kino tried to sell his 'pearl of the world,' the dealers offered him a mere 1500 pesos and told him that "The pearl is like fool's gold"(721) and "this is not a pearl- it's a monstrosity" (722). As the narrator stated, "That is a great deal of money, more than he had ever seen" (722). However, Kino chose to stand his ground, and not give in to their small offers for he knew the dealers were not being honest. Finally Kino felt he had an opportunity to make a better life for his family and cashing the pearl in for a large sum of money was the only way Kino could change his life. Kino displays a great deal of heroism here because he had the courage to do what none of his people could do in the past. While he acted on behalf of his family and himself, many of Kino's people could have profited from his bravery.
