How It Works ARCHIVING 1.Cloud Tiering Appliance scans the source storage through CIFS or NFS to find files that meet a policy 2.When files match a policy, they are written to the destination tier 3.Once file is committed to archive, a small stub is left on the primary share/export RETRIEVAL 1.Client requests moved file 2.Stub contains metadata with location of file 3.The file is recalled through CIFS or NFS from a share or export Primary storage Clients Primary storage Clients Archive storage
