Welcome to Helen O‘Grady International Drama Academy ‘ Drama Develops Kids!’

About The Academy Helen O’ Grady International has a unique self development programme for children of all age groups. It is with pride that we introduce ourselves as the only programme of its kind in the world which uses the medium of drama to teach Communication skills to children.

We are an international organization established in Perth, Australia, in Since then, the organization has been doing sterling work for the last thirty four years in the field of children’s education in over 34 countries and doing the same in India for the past 10 years and in Hyderabad/Secunderabad for past 5 years.

Helen has had extensive experience as a teacher, children's television presenter, and professional actress on both stage and television. She is the founder of the acclaimed Helen O'Grady Drama System and oversees its implementation internationally.

International Presence Countries we are present in : Australia, New Zealand, United Kingdom, Ireland, United States, South Africa, Malaysia, Spain, Gulf States, Georgia, Vietnam, Indonesia, Singapore, Hong Kong, Malta, China, India and many more.

Currently, every week over a thousands children attend Helen O’Grady Drama classes in over 1400 locations throughout the countries we operate in.

Structure of the Program Curriculum is designed keeping in mind the age groups which is as follows : Pre-primary 3-5yrs Lower Primary 5-8 years Upper Primary 9-12 years Youth Theatre years

WE OFFER An International structured curriculum which is tried and tested, and has been running successfully all over the world. To realise the potential of the programme it is advised that children attend at least 100 hours i.e. at least 3 years. Each year is further divided into three terms - Each term is for 10 lessons, once a week for one hour. No examinations. But Achievement Certificates awarded for each full year attended.

A Typical Lesson Each lesson consists of : Introductory activities. Introductory activities. Manners and Etiquette. Manners and Etiquette. Speech. Speech. Vocabulary. Vocabulary. Movement. Movement. Whole class improvisation. Whole class improvisation. Snippet. Snippet. Conclusion. Conclusion.

Introductory Activity A class commences with Unstructured speech called ‘ad-libbing’. This spikes a child’ imagination and encourages him to co-ordinate speech, hand gestures, facial expression and body movement simultaneously.

SPEECH Projection, articulation, jaw exercises, forward placing. Poems. Vocabulary. Elocution – diction, pronunciation. Proverbs. Story Telling. Recitation. Debates. Creative writing.

MOVEMENT This section aims at body, weight and space awareness. This helps children to shed inhibitions and teaches correct body-posture.

WHOLE CLASS IMPROVISATION This is a short play involving the whole class. Children work as a team and learn valuable social skills. SNIPPETS & MINI-SCRIPTS are individual acts which motivate the children to shed their stage frights and respond confidently to any given situation.

IN HIGHER STANDARDS Speech- Projection, articulation, jaw exercises, forward placing. Recitation. Script writing. Stage Backdrop. Stage performance. Expression. Speech – structured and unstructured. Movement and dance drama. Manners and etiquette.

The program aims to give the children the greatest gift possible: THE ABILITY TO FULLY BELIEVE IN THEMSELVES AND THEIR FUTURE IN OUR WORLD.
