Level 2 2a 2b 2c

Level 2 2a 2b 2c The SATs tests allow us to see what our children have learned and retained during their time in Key Stage 2. The SATs tests enable us to see the progress and attainment a child has made during their time with us. The SATs tests results, combined with our teacher assessments are sent to the High Schools to enable them to effectively plan their curriculum.

Level 2 2a 2b 2c All children who turn 11 before 31 st August 2013 must legally sit the end of Key Stage 2 Assessment Tests. In rare circumstances, a pupil can be disapplied from taking the tests. All children across the country take their tests during the same time slots. Children who miss the test on the day do not have the opportunity to sit it at a later date.

Level 2 2a 2b 2c What do the results of all the tests mean? The results show whether or not your child has reached the expected National Curriculum level in that test. What is teacher assessment? Teachers are required to summarise their assessment at the end of the key stage, giving a level for each attainment target in English and mathematics. They must give an overall subject level in mathematics and English.

Level 2 2a 2b 2c What guidance is given to teachers on assessment? The level descriptions in the national curriculum are the basis for judging the children’s levels of attainment. What do the levels mean? It is expected that the majority of 11 year old children will achieve Level 4 by the end of Year 6. However, for some children achieving Level 3 is a real success for that particular individual. A child achieving Level 5 is working at a high level, and a small percentage achieve Level 6.

Level 2 2a 2b 2c KS2 Reading (1 Hour) For the SATs Reading Test, children will be given a reading booklet and an answer booklet. Children are given 15 minutes to read the booklet, followed by 45 minutes to answer the questions. There are two types of questions - short, closed questions (multiple choice, short answers) and longer, open-ended questions (requiring children to explain, give reasons or comment on the text to show their understanding)

Volcanoes fall into three groups, depending on how active they are. Volcanoes which are erupting are called active. Volcanoes which show no signs of eruption are known as dormant or sleeping and, if they remain dormant for tens of thousands of years, they may be described as extinct. When we hear of a volcano erupting, we think of a tallcone-shaped mountain sending out clouds of ash and liquid rock called lava.

21. The writer could have said that the Earthship is cheap to run, but instead he wrote dirt cheap. Why do you think he chose these words? ………………………………………… ………………………………………… ………………………………………… ………………………………………… ………………………………………… 22. ‘Earthship’ is made up of two words: earth and ship. Why are these two words used for this new type of house? Earth …………………………………………… …………………………………………… …………………………………….……… Ship …………………………………………… …………………………………………… …………………………………….………
