Biomes Chapter 4

What is a Biome? Biome – a complex terrestrial community that covers a large area and is characterized by certain soil and climate conditions and particular assemblages of plant and animals In each of these biomes, animals and plants exhibit variation in tolerance or the ability to survive and reproduce under conditions that differ from their optimal conditions

Biome Booklet Project Step 1: Get 3-11x14 pieces of paper and fold it in half. You will staple the middle half so that it forms a book. Step 2: You will write a title, your name, and your period on the front of the booklet. Step 3: On the top of each of the pages, you will write the name of a biome. You will have 10 names.

Biomes of the World Ecologists recognize at least 10 different biomes Tropical Rain Forest Tropical Dry Forest Tropical savanna Temperate grassland Desert Temperate woodland & shrubland Temperate forest Northwestern coniferous forest Boreal forest (Taiga) Tundra

Biome Booklet Project Step 4: You will go to each of the 10 stations in the lab room and get information about each of the biome Step 5: On each page you will have the following: A drawing, illustration, picture, photo of the biome or any animals or plants clearly associated with that biome 5 distinct characteristics that will help you identify each biome Step 6: You will have Thursday and Friday to get all the information that you need. The completed booklet will be due Monday, 2/22. It will be worth 25 points. Each biome will be worth 2 pts. 5 pts will be given for design, neatness, creativity, and clarity.
