What is an objective? An objective is a description of the student at the end of the lesson. Two major parts: Learning Level of complexity (verb) Specific content Behavior (overt)
Example of an objective Level of complexity (verb) Student will be able to compare the differences and similarities of the programs offered at the University of Arizona and Arizona State University on a Venn diagram. Behavior (overt) Specific content
Card re-sort Re-sort the examples, if needed, based on new information
Partner Feedback Switch your objectives with a partner Provide written feedback using the following guiding questions: Is there a verb describing the level of complexity? Does the objective list a specific content? Does the objective state an observable (overt)behavior by the student?
Lesson plan Create a lesson plan incorporating the following: Use lesson plan template on Cholla website under Teacher Hub, PLC tab Submit by March 13th to Department Head, Department Heads submit to AIT Objective (utilizing information from today) and Math All other contents DoK level 2 questioning (utilizing information from yesterday’s PD) Collaborative conversation activity (utilizing information from yesterday’s PD)
Closure On exit slip Write an objective for an upcoming lesson incorporating the two key components of objectives
