Who are you?
Why Bother???
A growing movement
Why bother? community-led – written by or under the control of the community more influence – part of the statutory development plan more relevant – focused on the neighbourhood needs create a dialogue – between organisations, departments and partners allocate sites – develop criteria and choose sites for development
Not just housing……. Protection of green spaces To choose where new industry and employment should go To design out crime To protect gaps between towns and villages Protect local heritage assets
Immediate benefits– more collaborative decision making Community more engaged with planning process. In the future - – more homes being built, planning decisions being sped up
Interesting things are happening……. A move from anti to pro development Areas are choosing ‘extra’ housing Groups are growing in confidence and capability Starting to tackle issues that fall outside of ‘planning’
