Summary A girl named Chiyo who grew up in a fishing village is sold to an Okiya and a bustling city, or a geisha house. She causes trouble the few days she stayed there,and it is decided that she will stay as a servant forever instead of becoming a geisha. Another geisha named Hatsumomo, continually brings down all of her dreams until another famous geisha, named Mameha, decides to take her as a younger sister, and all the while, Chiyo falls in love with a man. In her long conquest to become a geisha, Sayuri has one main goal: to bring down Hatsumomo.
G is for G ion Gion is the city where Sayuri became a geisha and where most of the most emotional occurances happened in her life.
A is for aspiration Aspiration: The young geisha, or main character, Sayuri, had many aspirations to become a full blown geisha when she was a little girl.
C is for Chairman Chairman: The Chairman was the man Sayuri loved and was the fire in her heart that made her strive to become a geisha.
Y is for Yoroido Yoroido is the place where the little girl Chiyo was born, as well as the place where she was sold to an okiya, where she would be an entirely different person.
O Is for Okiya The okiya is the place where geisha are taught, brought up, and live for most of their lives. In this story, Chiyo grew to a woman and a geisha in an okiya.
H is for Hatsumomo Hatusmomo was the woman who despised Sayuri, and the woman who tried her hardest to bring her down.
P is for Pumpkin Pumpkin was the supposed friend of Sayuri, they were brought up together and helped each other with their own hardships
L is for Love Love played a big part in Sayuri’s life, it was what made her go forward and become a geisha.
S is for Sayuri Sayuri is the name for the little girl that changed into a geisha when she was sold into an okiya.
T is for Tanaka The man who sold her into slavery, the man who changed her life when he came to her father that day and stole her and her sister into Gion.
