Should shark barriers be put up in popular swimming areas?

Shark Nets Should Not Be Allowed! Shark nets can potentially kill sharks. Sharks can get tangled up into the nets and possibly suffocate. There are not that many shark attacks taken place each year. When shark attacks happen they seem to be overly publicized and seem worse then they are. By placing shark nets we are effecting the environment by possibly killing the sharks witch leads to diminishing other ecosystems. The nets are not only catching sharks but also catch other animals such as, dolphins, and other sea life.

Shark nets should be placed... Shark nets reduce 90% of shark attacks at beaches. Therefore beaches are safer and more enjoyable. Shark nets are not placed though out the entire ocean only in popular swimming areas. The sharks are released from the nets into deeper water where they do not disturb swimmers. Groups are formed to watch the nets: making sure that sharks and humans are out of danger.

Electrical barriers should be placed... Electrical barriers should replace shark nets because they are safer. Sharks have an electric sense that keeps them from swimming areas that are near the barriers. These barriers will not harm sharks nor the environment. Electrical barriers keep swimmers safe as well as sharks.

OUR THOUGHTS... There should be barriers to keep sharks at a distance. These barriers need to be safe for both humans, and sharks as well as the environment. Electrical barriers seem most practical and safe, because sharks instinctively know to stay away from them and stay in the deep waters where they belong. Humans now would be able to swim in public beaches without fear.
