Great White Shark vs. Hammerhead Shark

Great White Shark Great White Sharks are the largest predatory fish in the sea. The Great White Shark lives for about 25 years. In one year, a single Great White Shark consumes about 11 tons of food. Great White Sharks rarely attack people and when they do, it is because they mistake the person for their usual seal prey. Some scientists believe there are less than 10,000 Great White Sharks in the entire world.

Hammerhead Shark Found in temperate and tropical waters, far off shore and near shorelines. Hammerhead sharks use their oddly shaped heads to improve their ability to find prey. There are nine identified species of hammerhead sharks. Hammerhead sharks live to be the ages of 20 to 30 years old. Hammerhead sharks grow to be 13 to 20 feet.

Comparing the Two Neither the Great White Shark nor the Hammerhead shark attack people. If they do, it’s because they mistake them for their prey. Both the Hammerhead Shark and the Great White Shark are born with siblings. Both the Hammerhead Shark and the Great White Shark are at high risk of extinction.

Contrasting the Two The Hammerhead shark has a long slender head, with wide set eyes. While the Great White Shark, has a more round and narrow head. The Great White Shark feeds on seals, whereas the Hammerhead shark prefers stingrays, groupers, and catfish. The Great White Shark is larger in size, in comparison to the Hammerhead.
