Presentation transcript:

 We will produce complete sentences using comparative and superlative adjectives.

Why?:  We use comparative adjectives to compare TWO nouns.

Adjectives (of what kind) Adjective(er) or more + adjective (two syllables or less) (more than two syllables) Irregular: good better, bad worse some/many more, little less

 Formula 1: Noun1 + “to be” verb + adjective(er)+ than +noun2 + finisher. ◦ Example: Oranges are sweeter than lemons.  Formula 2: Noun1 + “to be” verb + more+adjective + than +noun2 + finisher. ◦ Example: A granola bar is a more nutritious snack than a candy bar.

Why?:  We use superlative adjectives to compare MORE THAN TWO nouns.

Adjectives (of what kind) Adjective(est) or most + adjective (two syllables or less) (more than two syllables) Irregular: good best, bad worst some/many most, little least

 Formula 1: Noun + “to be”verb + the + adjective(est) + of all (group of nouns). ◦ Example: Samantha was the tallest of all the students in her class.  Formula 2: Noun + “to be”verb + the + most + adjective + of all (group of nouns). ◦ Example: In Arizona, July and August are the most humid of all the months.
