Controversy in the Media False Claims Include… Operatives in the U.S. Dept. of Education are actively pursuing CSCOPE as a way of establishing the common core standards without the Texas Legislature. A connection between CSCOPE and William “Bill” Ayers. CSCOPE promotes Islam above other religions. CSCOPE promotes Wicca which is akin to witchcraft. CSCOPE denies parents the ability to review instructional materials. CSCOPE is a means of promoting “Agenda 21”.

Controversy in the Media Responding to Stakeholders… FAQ at Thomas Ratliff, SBOE Member CSCOPE commentary CSCOPE Parent Portal Guidelines for providing CSCOPE access to stakeholders – Adhere to district policy and guidelines for how CSCOPE content should or may be shared/displayed. – Adhere to the TESCCC DULA and Terms of Use by not allowing unauthorized users to have online access to the CSCOPE site or gain permanent possession of CSCOPE content.

CSCOPE Content Postings on the Web Issues… CSCOPE content being posted outside the system on personal or other public webpages… – YOUTUBE – PINTEREST – Teacher Blogs – District/Campus Webpages – File-sharing websites All of the above are violations of the DULA! Protect the content! Don’t post it outside the system!

CSCOPE End User Profiles Issues… Current profiles associated with logins allow users to view and fully access curriculum in all content areas and grade levels. In some instances, this has allowed parents (who are also teachers) an unfair advantage in helping their children, or the ability to facilitate cheating on unit assessments. Potential Solution… Create more robust user profiles that restrict access based on content area, grade levels, and courses. Would require districts/campuses to manage user profiles regularly!!! Could potentially toggle the feature ON and OFF. Thoughts???

CSCOPE Content Posting Update Currently… 5 th Six Weeks Lessons – All posted in English and Spanish exception World History Unit 8B due January 18 th. 6 th Six Weeks Lessons – Math – 100% posted! – ELAR - 100% posted! – Science - 9/26 units’ lessons posted (Due Mid-Late February) – Social Studies - 3/20 units’ lessons posted (Due Mid-Late February) – SLAR - 4/10 units’ lessons posted (Due Mid-Late February) – Spanish lesson translations will follow English versions being completed, so those lessons will post closer to the end of the window.
