Controversy Case Study Participants act as interest groups taking a stance on a controversial scientific issue (stem cells) which is receiving media attention. Format: 5 groups  Scientists and organisations who believe in using only adult stem cell material for research  Scientist and organisations who believe that both adult and embryonic stem cell material should be used  An alliance of religious groups who would allow limited research using adult stem-cell material or cord blood only  Pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies  Patient forums and interest groups Format: 5 groups  Scientists and organisations who believe in using only adult stem cell material for research  Scientist and organisations who believe that both adult and embryonic stem cell material should be used  An alliance of religious groups who would allow limited research using adult stem-cell material or cord blood only  Pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies  Patient forums and interest groups Each interest group prepares and then presents its case to the Citizens’ Jury.
