Activity In your group, you are going to be given a hypothetical crisis. Talk amongst your group about how you would deal with it.

The United States Is Collapsing! After a series of losses to Canada (eh?), the United States slowly begins to crumble. Brainstorm amongst your group: –What fears would you have? Put your fears in the form of questions. (i.e. How will I get food?)

The Government Collapses Canada’s ice warriors have made the government completely shut down! Brainstorm amongst your group: –What kind of things does the government do for us? –How will a shut down of the government affect us?

It’s Over, the Government is Not Returning! Canada has completely finished off the U.S. government! However, they are not going to rule, but they may invade from time to time on their horsies. Brainstorm amongst your group: –Now that this is a long-term reality, what will you do to survive? (You can’t just create a new government) –Will it be better to go it alone or to make friends?

So How Is This Relevant? Feudalism starts in a similar way! What empire collapses? –Rome! The decline of Roman influence in Western Europe left people with little protection against invasion, so they entered into feudal agreements with land- holding lords who promised them protection.
