Teacher Page OBJECTIVE: The learner will use a Graphic Organizer to remember and retell a story. The learner will relate science principles to the poem. ACTIVITY: The students will read a poem and remember and retell it using a web. The class will write in journals and discuss answers to questions about turtles.

Teacher Page PROCEDURE: 1. Copy the poem either for the class or on a transparency. (The next slide contains the complete poem.) 2.Click through and read slides. 3. Students will make a web to remember and retell the story. 4. Students will use a journal to answer questions about the animals in the poem.

Little Turtle by Vachel Lindsey There was a little turtle Who lived in a box. He swam in the puddles And he climbed on the rocks. He snapped at a mosquito. He snapped at a flea. He snapped at a minnow, And he snapped at me. He caught the mosquito. He caught the flea. He caught the minnow, But he didn’t catch me!
