Apuntes de gramática Possessive adjectives, possessive pronouns, reflexive verbs, the imperfect tense.

Possessive adjectives: show personal relationships or possession. All possessive adjectives including: mi(s),tu(s),su(s),nuestro(a/os/as)+vuestro(a/os/as) Must agree in gender and number with the nouns they describe. Possesives-singular long form Mío(a)Nuestro(a) Tuyo(a)Vuestro(a) Suyo(a) Possessives plural long form Míos(as)Nuestros(as) Tuyos(as)Vuestros(as) Suyos(as) The long form is more expressive. Unlike the regular or short form, the long form follows the noun. Ex: “Comemos con unos amigos nuestros”. (we are eating with some friends of ours.) Also show personal relationships. To form a possessive noun: 1.Use the long form of the possessive adjective. 2.Add,El,La,Los,Las according to the gender and number of the noun it replaces. Ex: Sus viajes son a differentes lugares. Y los tuyos, ¿ adonde son? (his trips are to different places) (and yours, where are they to?) Possessive pronouns

Reflexive pronouns and verbs Me escondo Nos escondemos Te escondo Os escondeís Se esconde Se esconden A verb used reflexively tells you that ONLY the subject of the verb is involved in the action. When using a reflexive verb in the infinitive form, attach the pronoun to the infinitive. Reflexive verbs take a special direct object pronoun called a reflexive pronoun. While the usual direct object is different from the subject,a reflexive pronoun is the same person, place,or thing as the subject. The subject(YO) and the D.O.P. (me) are the same person. You call this object reflexive. Ex: me escondo (Im hiding ) direct object pronouns menos teos Lo/laLos/las Example: A girl can hide a doll. Notice that the subject (yo) and the D.O.P (la) are different. La escondo (Im hiding it)

The imperfect tense(the other past tense) for repeated actions in the past without a beginning or an end. Clue words: todos los días,siempre, muchas veces. -aba-abamos -abas-abais -aba-aban -ía-íamos -ías-íais -ía-ían -ar verbs -er and –ir verbs The only verbs that do not follow this pattern are: 1.Ser(to be)2. Ir(to go) 3.ver(to see) eraéramos eraserais eraeran veíaveíamos veíasveíais veíaveían ibaibamos ibasibais ibaiban Use for background events in a story To say how old someone was To say what time it is To talk about something you can do as a matter of habit
