Delicious Dirt!!

Did you know that soil has different layers. We are studying those different layers in science. The three main layers are bedrock, subsoil, and topsoil. All soil is made from rocks!! Today in class we created and ate dirt to demonstrate each soil horizon! At first we were worried when Mrs. Arant said we had to eat dirt, but in the end it sure was delicious dirt!

ILOVEDIRTILOVEDIRT

We used a solid Gingersnap cookie to represent the Bedrock Layer of soil!

We used crumbled vanilla and chocolate goldfish for the “Parent Material!”

We used vanilla pudding for the Subsoil Layer of soil!

We used chocolate pudding for the Topsoil layer of soil!

We used sprinkles for the organic material on top of the Topsoil layer!

And of course, you will always find a worm on top of dirt!

With all of the ingredients to make dirt/soil, don’t we wish that it could always be delicious dirt!! YUMMY!!! Mrs. Arant even ate dirt too!! I guess if she can do it so can we!!
