INTRODUCTION! Our Earth is becoming more and more polluted. Humans are ruining its beautiful trees and making its water dirty. The Earth needs your help! It is time that we try and figure out what we can do to make our planet cleaner. You are Captain Planet Protector and it is up to YOU to help the Earth!
TASK! Your task as Captain Planet Protector is to research parts of the Earth that are being polluted and ruined. In groups you will do this research using resources that follow and you will combine your efforts and present to the class ways in which we can easily start to save our Earth.
PROCESS! Discuss in your group your specific topic and come up with things that you might already know about how people ruining this part of the Earth Now that you have some beginning ideas about your topic, do further research using the Internet links that are provided later You’ll find more in depth information on what to look for on your topic’s page Compile your information and come up with what you think are the top three things that humans are doing to harm your topic Create a presentation to give to the class listing the top three harms and solutions to protect the planet
WATER! Healthy drinking water is a very important resource. Your group will research what is polluting our water How are people polluting our water supplies? How can people fix these problems?
AIR! The air we breath is an extremely important resource—we need it to live! It is continually being polluted and it is your job to find out what is causing it! Figure out what the causes of air pollution are and what we can do to fix them or not pollute as much.
TREES! Trees create our oxygen. They are beautiful. They provide us with shade. Trees are a valuable resource and they are being chopped down left and right. It is your job to research how humans are affecting trees and our forests. Find problems and create solutions so that fewer trees are affected by people.
LAND FILLS! People are producing more and more waste. Our land fills are filling up at a never- ending rate. Soon we may be out of room. It is your job to figure out what can be done to stop our land fills from filling up anymore. Research what can be done to prevent waste and how recycling can help fix this situation.
