FRANCE OUR COUNTRY

FRANCE France is the largest country of Western Europe: its total area is 551,695 km2. There are 65,530,000 inhabitants in this country and we also have territories overseas.

The capital city of France is Paris, which is famous for the Eiffel tower !

We also have a great regional diversity !

National symbols On the French flag, there are 3 colors : blue, white and red. Our national anthem is “La Marseillaise”.

Our currency The French currency is also the Euro.

Our president Our new president is François Hollande.

Location It is a city located in the southeastern suburbs of Paris, 7.3 miles from the center. It counts about 80 000 inhabitants. It is made of 8 districts: - the old Saint-Maur - Champignol - la Pie - la Varenne - les Mûriers - le Parc - Adamville

The origins The city of Saint-Maur was born in 639. It owes its name to its Abbey built for Queen Nanthild, regent for her son Clovis II. The older park is the Abbey park.

Advantages Saint-Maur-des-Fossés is served by four stations on the Paris express regional train. It is almost entirely surrounded by a loop of the Marne River, which is pleasant for a walk and sport activities.

Architectural legacy The 12th-14th century St Nicolas Church is in the historical center of Saint-Maur.

Sport facilities Near the school, there is a stadium and a swimming pool. They have access to them for their Physical education classes.
