Blackbeard the Pirate Edward Teach

Be afraid! One of the most dreaded pirates who ever lived! Terrorized the Atlantic Ocean and Carribean sea for 2 years. He had 14 wives but treated them badly. He shot his best friend in the knee… just for fun!

To attack ships, they raised a false flag to pretend they were friendly, and when they got close they would raise Blackbeard’s flag and attack! He marooned 15 of his crew on ‘dead chest island’ and took their share of the treasure.

His ship was called Queen Anne’s Revenge

Blackbeard twisted pieces of burning rope in his beard so that he appeared in a thick cloud of black smoke. Blackbeard’s reign of terror only lasted two years. He was killed in a duel with lieutenant Maynard and Blackbeard’s head was then hung from Maynard’s ship!

Treasure! Nobody else but Blackbeard knew if he had buried treasure or where it was. So when he died, his secret went with him. People have been searching for hundreds of years to find Blackbeard’s treasure but it has yet to be found!

Pirate Flags

Rumour has it… The ghost of Blackbeard had returned to carry on terrorising the seas. You must design a new pirate flag for his pirate ship Think about what images you can use to make others afraid of him!
