Primary means must be by sloped entry or pool lift; secondary means can be any of the permitted types. What types of spas and pools are required to be accessible? There are different forms of access that are required on type and size of spas and pools, In some cases You are to have multiple means of access. All commercial spas and pools are required to be accessible. Below is a chart that clearly summarizes the requirements:

Is there certain ADA requirements that I should look for in a lift? Here are three basics requirements to check on your lift: 1. Lift must have a capacity of 300 lbs or more. ADA Advisory – Pool lifts should be provided that meet the needs of the population they serve. Providing a pool lift with a weight capacity greater than 300lbs may be advisable. 2. Lift must have a solid seat and a footrest. Sling seat styles are not compliant and should be replaced. 3. Lift must be self operable from the deck and the water. A lift with manual rotate or hand crank is not compliant and should be replaced.

I have multiple spas and Pools at a facility, can I share a lift? The standard requires that each operational pool be accessible. Sharing a lift does not satisfy the standards and may create safety issues with stranded swimmers if the lift is moved while they are in the pool. Can I make my spa or pool ADA compliant more affordable? The Federal Government provides tax incentives. Please refer to our website for more details. Tax Deduction: The tax deduction allows a business of any size to expense up to a maximum of $15,000 per year of items that normally must be capitalized (depreciated). Disabled Access Credit: Eligible small businesses may take a credit of up to $5,000

At my location (site), are there ADA requirements that I need to meet or comply with? Yes, there are minimum requirements that must be met at your location. The Requirements for lifts are: 1.Located at a place no deeper than 48” from pools deck 2.The Deck should not slope more than 1:48 (1” in 48”) 3.Center line of the seat shall not be closer than 16” to the pools edge 4.You must have an accessible route to the access point 5.You must have a clear deck space provided at the side of the lift for transferring (48” parallel to the seat measured from 12” behind back of the seat x 36” perpendicular to the side of the seat)

When determining which lift is for me, how do I choose for my location? There are certain measurements that become very important at your Location. The list below will assist you in narrowing down your lift. Type of gutter system – The measurement from your deck to your pool wall. To assist you with that go to clickwww.globalliftcorp.com on the configuration form and that will provide you with the critical measurements you will need. The height of any walls that you may need to clear and width. The water to the deck measurement
