The Vision for Sport in Wales Sporting Innovation Skills for Life in Sport Sporting Communities Sporting Excellence Growing a Skilled & Passionate Workforce Our Vision is to UNITE A PROUD SPORTING NATION, where EVERY CHILD is HOOKED ON SPORT FOR LIFE and Wales is a NATION OF CHAMPIONS

Sport Wales National Lottery funded programme to tackle known inequalities in sports participation Follows on from the successful inaugural Calls4Action in 2012 which invested £1.5million into Community Sport in Wales The focus for this round of Calls4Action has been influenced by evidence attained from the 2013 School Sport Survey and an evaluation of the inaugural Calls4 Action Calls4Action - Background

Focus Areas:  Girls & Young Women  Young people living in poverty (up to 24yrs)  People with a disability  People from a BME background Budget Commitment: £3million in total £1.5million for Girls & Young Women £1.5million for Poverty; Disability & BME Calls4Action - Overview

Our School Sport Survey 2013, which received over 110,000 responses from young people, and our Active Adults 2012 survey have been the main sources of evidence, along with evidence from a range of qualitative sources. We have produced Equality Fact Sheets that support each theme. Factsheets and tables are available on the Calls for Action pages on our website: Calls 4 Action – What’s the Evidence behind it?

C4A is about generating Positive Action to address known areas of inequality C4A is about Changing Lives through sport C4A is about being bold and Encouraging New Approaches C4A is about increasing the amount of Regular Weekly Activity taking place throughout Wales Calls4Action – Principles

Projects must impact on the target groups/areas to be eligible for support. We will also highlight priorities within the target groups and be proactive in generating applications and engaging with partners. Calls4Action – A targeted approach

Focus Area: GIRLS & YOUNG WOMEN Target Groups: Teenage Girls Young Women (20-44yrs) Priorities Addressing known Drop Off points Community to School/College focus Focus Area: CHILDREN & YOUNG PEOPLE IN POVERTY (up to 24yrs) Target Areas: Communities 1st Areas Communities with schools in Free School Meals Quartile 3 & 4 (SSS Data 2013) Priorities Parents and family members Developing and supporting Volunteers

What we expect to see from applications: Strong evidence base for the problem that’s to be addressed Genuine collaboration and partnership working Clear sense of purpose and impact Lasting benefit What we would like to see from applications: That they build on current success Increase capacity and capability amongst individuals Calls4Action – Potential Applications

Projects can be Capital or Revenue based or a combination of the two Projects must impact on one or more of the target groups/areas Minimum grant request is £25,000 A maximum grant award level has not been set Funding can be for a maximum of 3years Match-funding is not compulsory but is encouraged Calls4Action – Criteria
