Report on Technostride’06 Tezpur University, as an institution with possibly one of the best of the facilities and resources in this remote North Eastern part of the country, the Dept of Electronics felt that we have a social responsibility to provide a platform for electronic enthusiasts and students from this region to give expression to their creative potential and benefit from the synergy of likeminded peers, academia and industry leaders. It is with the foregoing aspects in mind that the theme of TechnoSTRIDE’06 is chosen as “Tuning towards Industrial Expectation…” with the following objectives in mind; Interaction with alumni of the Department of Electronics on their professional experience. Highlighting academic and research activities of this department to industry. Encouraging innovative thinking in electronics among students of the North East Region.

So, the Dept of Electronics, with the above theme and objectives organized a day long programme on 20th April’06. The day long programme is divided in to three events, which are – Enajori – Interaction with the Alumni of the Dept. We feel that this event had tremendous potential to promote industry-academia relationship to work in areas of direct relevance to the industry, which had definitely benefited both the student fraternity and industry. Our alumni, which is our strength, had helped us in ensuring the success of this event, many of them being very well placed in reputed organizations. In presence of esteemed Alumni, student fraternity, academicians and professionals, Prof. P. C. Deka, Vice Chancellor, Tezpur University inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp. Prof. Deka, thanked the Dept of Electronics for organizing such kind of festival for the first time, and he emphasized that this festival will definitely promote industry-academia relationship to work in areas of direct relevance to the industry, which will benefit both the student fraternity and industry.

Dr. P. G. Rao, Director, RRL, Jorhat was present as Chief Guest of the programme. Dr. Rao, in his speech, praised the dept of Electronics for organizing an event where alumni, academicians & professionals got a platform to interact. He said that small & medium scale industries are facing tremendous challenge from big scale industries for their quality product. For that reason, small & medium scale industries are in need of proper technologies to sustain in this competitive world. He hoped that this university will be able to produce proper technical manpower by providing proper education, for the need of industry making this country vibrant. Dr. P. G. Rao, also released a Souvenir prepared for this technical festival. Prof. M. Bhuyan, HoD, Dept of Electronics and Chairman of the programme delivered the inaugural lecture and also explained the objectives of the programme.
