What is Internationalization?  Internationalization in post-secondary institutions recognizes the need for students to be exposed to ideas and people from around the world to: - build understanding of cultures - build cross cultural skills - help them adapt to the demands of a rapidly changing world.  Internationalization initiatives include: study abroad programs, international work placements, and recruitment of international students & faculty.

Internationalization – A post- secondary Trend  AUCC survey (2006) indicated 95% of Canadian universities referenced international initiatives in their strategic plans  Alberta Advanced Education & Technology set goals for international expansion in post-secondaries.

Internationalization and MaCewan School of Business MacEwan’s current strategic plan identifies the expansion of international education initiatives as a priority. The School of Business 5 priorities 2010 – 2012: 1.Developing the School of Business’ international capacity. 2.Revitalizing the Institute of Asia Pacific Studies 3.Funding international initiatives 4.Hosting visiting academics 5.Supporting faculty and staff members’ scholarly activity.
