Presentation transcript:

Barack Obama will be sworn in as our 44 th President of the United States. He will take an oath prescribed in the Constitution which will be administered by Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. This historical ceremonial event will mark the beginning of a four year term to preserve, protect and defend the United States of America.

Barack Hussein Obama was elected president on Nov. 4, 2008, becoming the first African-American to claim the highest office in the land, an improbable candidate fulfilling a once-impossible dream.

President-elect Barack Obama Born in Hawaii on August 4th, Dad was from Kenya. Raise by his single mother and grandparents. Family didn't have much money, but they taught him values from the Kansas heartland where they grew up. He was a simple man, joined a small law firm, taught constitutional law and was guided by his Christian faith and stayed active in his community. Political drive: is to solve the challenges of everyday American without political gain.

Barack and Michelle met at a law firm and married in Today, they have two girls-Malia, 10, and Sasha, 7.

 As we celebrated the birth of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., on a national holiday dedicated to his honor, many people point to the surging presidential candidacy of Barack Obama as evidence of how far this country has come in terms of race relations since the days of the Civil Rights struggle led by Dr. King. Many see Obama’s campaign as the fulfillment of Dr. King’s dream. As they would point out, here is a man who is being judged based on the content of his character, and not on the color of his skin. Could anything be more representative of the fulfillment of Dr. King’s dream than that?

America’s greatest moment It signifies a time of new beginnings, transforming our nation’s hopes, its political system and its outlook toward the future and how our nation is perceived abroad to other countries.

 “the only thing we have to fear is fear itself”, Franklin Delano Roosevelt  “ask what you can do for your country”, John F.
