DATABASE MARKETPLACE Google, EBSCO, JSTOR, United Streaming, & World Book Online

WHAT IS IT? In groups, you will be assigned a specific database that the school subscribes to. You will, like in the previous activity, become experts on your topic. However, instead of giving a tour, we will be converting our classroom into a marketplace, where you will advertise your database to your peers. Marketplace day will be on Wednesday, August 29 for Block F, Thursday, August 30 for Blocks G, H, A, & B and on Friday, August 31 for Block D. There will be a short assessment after the activity to check your learning.

1. Divide yourselves into five groups. 2. Get your group assignment. 3. Create a short spiel of 5-10 minutes about your topic by answering the basic questions: What is it? How does one use it? Who does it cater to? What makes it different? What makes it useful? STEPS REMINDERS By the end of next class, you will submit to me an outline of what you plan to say during the activity. You will also need to plan a visual ad in the form of a poster, which should not have more than five words on it. (Acronyms such as JSTOR and EBSCO count as one word.)
