Delivery Objectives 5.Develop a men’s health website to support the training 6.Ensure that men’s health training becomes accredited with the appropriate professional bodies. 7.Develop a Train the Trainer’s programme in men’s health that is designed to train facilitators of a one-day men’s health training programme that can be delivered nationally to front line service providers XX√XX√

Understand how best practice guidelines in working with men should be used to engage men more effectively with health Be sensitive to the barriers & prompts experienced by men when accessing health and other services Be able to utilise Brief Interventions and Motivational Interviewing Techniques that have been tailored to have a specific focus on men

The Research To evaluate the effectiveness of the process by which ‘Trainers’ are trained and supported to deliver the ‘ENGAGE’ men’s health training programme. (Cascade Model) To measure the impact of the ‘ENGAGE’ men’s health training programme in terms of (i) the capacity of Trainers to deliver the programme; (ii) the ‘reach’ of the programme delivered by the Trainers; and (iii) the knock-on effects of the programme on building capacity among service providers and on the wider delivery of services. To support the development of a ‘Quality’ (‘Q’) Mark in men’s health training.

National Men’s Health Training Programme Each trainer was asked to deliver further training x 3 days to individuals/groups in their own area Gain written consent from participants, fill out pre questionnaire, post questionnaire at the training day And 5 month follow up evaluation to further gage progress of the training programme

Research Milestones 57 Engage Trainers Trained 21 Engage training programmes delivered to 225 participants on island of Ireland 120 participants at the 5 month evaluation stage Return of the 5 month evaluation is at 50% Target of data collection pre and post data sets which would yield approximately month post data sets
