Welcome! Making Connections VSF and Cornwall & Isles of Scilly LEP Roadshow Mark Richardson CEO Cornwall Voluntary Sector Forum

Cornwall Voluntary Sector Forum (Cornwall VSF) About Cornwall VSF... Our focus is on supporting our colleagues to speak up on behalf of the voluntary sector and, where necessary, to act as the voice of sector in local strategic discussions. We do a wide variety of work, but it is all covered under four broad headings 1.Advocacy 2.Brokerage 3.Communication 4.Development

Myth Busting Voluntary Sector: What are we like? Myth #1: Voluntary Sector lives off Government handouts

Myth #2: The Sector is not enterprising and does not contribute to economic growth

Myth #3: You all work for free, so what do you need our money for?

So who are we then? We are Small to Medium Size Enterprises, 75% independent, local It is estimated that there are 4,500 voluntary and community sector organisations in Cornwall & Isles of Scilly. Taken from 2009 CIP survey of 500 VCS organisations

So who are we then? A ‘typical’ Charity or Social Enterprise in Cornwall paid staff, 11 female, 4 male 6 full time 40 volunteers

Why are we here today? 1.Inform 2.Explore 3.Enable 4.Discuss

Get involved, have your say! Thank you!
