Introduction The state is located between latitude 8 o 22’ and 10 o 24’ North and longitude 8 o 32’ and 10 o 38’East Its covers a land mass of 30,913 km 2 or 2,702,652.2 hectares i.e. about 3% of the total land mass of Nigeria. Has a population estimates of about three(3) M people Averagely the State is situated on 1200 MASL. Plateau state alone accounts for 90%-95% of the potato production in Nigeria.

OBJECTIVES OVERALL OBJECTIVE: 1.INCREASE FOOD CROP PRODUCTION AND INCOME OF FARMERS SPECIFIC OBJECTIVES: 1.TO ENCOURAGE FARMERS ADOPT NEW AGRIC. TECHNOLOGIES THROUGH THE ESTABLISHMENT OF MTP 2.EFFECTIVE PLANNING, MONITORING AND EVALUATION.

WEATHER AND CROP SITUATIONS 1.Experienced unusual high rainfall, due to probably climate change. 2.The high intensity of the rains in the state resulted in flooding. 3.Large hectarage of farm lands were washed away, houses were lost, both human and animal lives were lost. 4.Crops showed sign of nutrient deficiencies. 5.60%-80% of matured Potato tubers were lost due PTM and high intensity of rain.

CONSTRAINTS 1.INADEQUATE/POOR FUNDING. 2.SHORTAGE OF STAFF. 3.INADEQUATE MOBILITY. 4.LACK OF MOTIVATION.

CONCLUSION The low achievement recorded is due shortage of funds. If funds permits the ADP will achieve all the targeted activities.
