Strategic Planning Who: Level 4 SBN Member Strategy Arts Output: Business-Informed Strategic Initiatives that the GSI Partners will implement over the next several years Phase I: Developing Leadership Perspectives Stakeholder interviews (25) and executive focus group (1) A few of the questions What are the key elements of a robust local GSI industry? What needs to happen for the region to become *the* hub of GSI innovation? What needs to happen to better facilitate GSI being the driver for large scale job creation and business growth in the region? Phase II: Creating a Shared Vision A facilitated convening of 25 stakeholders to agree on a shared vision for the above questions A survey to determine full range of stakeholders’ desired role for the GSI Partners Phase III: Developing Action Plans and Accountability SBN and GSI Partners staff develop actionable goals and metrics

Context: GSI Partners = SBN Initiative Local Community of Practice = GSI Partners Initiative Convened May 2013 Goals: Grow leadership capacities for participants – individually, as a group, and for their businesses Identify barriers for small businesses re: public and private GSI contracts Develop recommendations to present to PWD re: improvements to process, policy, innovation and more So far: Two 2-day/1-night retreats Three 2-hour breakfast meetings Next Steps: Report to PWD Develop structure for ongoing dialogue with PWD “Next Step Planning Meeting” for LCoP participants Local Community of Practice: An Immersive Focus Group WHO: 8 small business leaders committed to GSI and growing their leadership capacities
