Changes in NCLB Requirements The model changed in August 2012 due to the ESEA Flexibility Request. School Districts no longer receive a label. AYP is no longer measured. New Annual Measurable Objectives (AMOs). Schools should cut in half the difference between current (2011) proficiency rates and 100 % proficiency in six years (2017) overall and for each subgroup in E/LA and Math.

The Lantern Award 2012 The Jackson County School District is the 2012 recipient of the Lantern Award from the Mississippi School Board Association. The Lantern Award is awarded annually to the best performing districts in the state of Mississippi. The awards will be presented at the Annual Lighthouse School Leader Awards Luncheon this fall.
