Students are divided between Mrs. Henninger and myself based on Spring 2014 MAP scores. Each week the students are given a spelling list incorporating various spelling rules. The students are using the Journeys Reading basal reader and book sets. Students are taught a reading skill each week to improve comprehension.

Students are expected to read books within their level range (one color above or below). OG’s comprehension goal is 85% or better. The 3 rd grade point goal is 40 points. This means your child should earn at least 10 new points each nine weeks. AR rewards are given at the end of the year with a special field trip for students earning 100 or more points.

All students go to Mrs. Henninger’s classroom for Science instruction. This year they will study units on Life Science (plants/animals), Earth Science (Rocks/Minerals), Physical Science (electricity/magnetism), and

The students will expand on their knowledge of the English language in spoken and written forms.

Breakfast/Lunch menus for the month are available on my website – Breakfast price = $1.40 Lunch Price = $2.25 We invite you to join us ANY time!

The students will expand on the concepts of addition/subtraction, time/money, data analysis, geometry, and measurement. The students will learn the multiplication facts through 12 and the relationship between multiplication and division.

The students will learn about the history of South Carolina. We will learn about its land and people through the use of maps, projects, stories, and primary documents.

The students are divided up among the 2 nd & 3 rd grade teachers based on Spring 2014 MAP scores for additional Math instruction.

Homework is assigned each night Monday-Thursday for additional practice on the day’s lessons. Homework is written daily in the student’s planner located in the WEST binder and should take between minutes to complete.

Each student is expected to follow all classroom and school rules. Classroom rules were established on the first day of school with the students. A level system is implemented in 3E with Level 3 being the “place to be” rewarding students with the most privileges.

Volunteer in our Classroom! I LOVE to have parents come in to help in the classroom. I ALWAYS have things that need to be done (copies, laminating, sorting). We love for you to eat lunch or go on field trips with us as well!
