- The simple way of dividing the regions of valle del cauca is as follows: Region flat or physical Valley, Highlands, coastal Region or the Pacific coast. - Average temperature of the region varies from 23 to 24 ° C, which corresponds to the warm thermal floor. The relative humidity varies in the range 65-75%. It is a tropical region with two rainy and two dry year.

The hydrographic network of the Valle del cauca is composed of numerous currents formed in two aspects, the Pacific and Magdalena, through the Cauca River. Among the main bodies of water are Rio Cauca, Rio Fraile, Rio Jamundi.

The Department is a place of numerous national parks, of which the Farallones de Cali, the Bay of Malaga and Malpelo Island are located entirely within their territory. In addition, share areas of other national parks with more departments. These are: Parque nacional natural Las Hermosas, con Tolima - Parque nacional natural Nevado del Huila, con Huila, Tolima y Cauca - Parque nacional natural Tatamá, con Risaralda.
