Instructional Videos: Do’s & Don’ts Teaching course concept in students’ own words….

Fall 2013 OB221 Recap Video: Capturing key course lessons in a creative capstone video:

From our RA: How to Create Class Videos Pre-Production Scheduling interview subjects/shooting times Prepping equipment/interview questions Obtaining consent from subjects Production Interview (Equipment needed: Video Camera, tripod, microphone) B-Roll/Found Footage/Photographs Post-Production Editing (Software Needed: iMovie/Final Cut Pro/Adobe Premiere/Windows Movie Maker) Encoding video into appropriate format (MOV/WMV/MP4) Transfer and Storage (Hardware/Streaming/Cloud)

Why I love being a part of OB221’s video projects… My favorite part of the process is watching the audience watch the final product. I look for reactions: laughter, silence, gasps, etc. because it signals to me that the students are engaged. It gives me a rewarding feeling knowing that I am supporting students’ learning and pushing the boundaries of higher education pedagogy Yvonne Tran, OB Video RA

Some Lessons  Students are incredibly engaged by video and film  It’s easier than you think to create quality video  Technology can be an enabler of learning as well as teamwork  Learning can be moved across space and time through video  Enhanced Creativity, Collaboration, Engagement, Learning
