Bleach Lab Idea

Reaction NaClO(aq) + C 37 H 34 N 2 Na 2 O 9 S 3 →

Absorbance and Concentration Absorbance is directly proportional to concentration in the dye. As the dye is consumed the absorbance decreases

Effect of changing bleach concentration When the bleach concentration was doubled, the change in absorbance over time doubled Changing the bleach concentration causes a proportional change in the absorbance change over time.

Effect of changing bleach concentration When the bleach concentration was halved, the change in absorbance over time was halved Changing the bleach concentration causes a proportional change in the absorbance change over time.

Effect of Temperature At an increased temperature the change in absorbance over time is greater

Effect of HCl The presence of HCl caused the change in absorbance over time to increase
