What is Oxygen? Oxygen is a database-driven web content production system

Database??? Just as each book in a library is represented by a card in the card catalog... …so does each piece of content have its own “card” in the Oxygen database.

Why a database? …and not HTML files? Database items are easier to search A database makes sharing content easier Separates content from its presentation, leaving the design to the designers

How do I put our content into the Oxygen database? Production Templates! You can access the templates from the New Content menu in the left- hand panel.

Just like cards in a card catalog, each item in Oxygen has attributes that identify it. This makes searching for and sharing content easier. This box appears at the top of every item in the Oxygen production system:

Fill out all the fields in the content item template and click “Save” at the top. This will enter your content into the Oxygen system.

How does Oxygen know how our content should be displayed? Display Templates!



How do I publish the content to our site? First, click “Collections” on left panel

How do I publish the content to our site? In the window that appears, choose the Site, Collection and Section where you want your content to appear.

How do I publish the content to our site? Type the slug of your content item into the blank at the bottom of the list of headlines. Click “Add”. Drag your item to the desired position and click “Save Collection”.

Tip: Adding to a collection is just like relating content In the blank field, type the slug of the item you wish to relate, then click “Add”. All the items I want are attached to another story. Is there a shortcut to relate them all at once? Enter an exclamation point, then the slug of the story. Click “Add”. ________________
