copyright source of light ministires And the LORD said unto Cain, Why art thou wroth? and why is thy countenance fallen? 7 If thou doest well, shalt thou not be accepted? and if thou doest not well, sin lieth at the door. And unto thee shall be his desire, and thou shalt rule over him. Genesis 4:6-7 Cain killed his brother in anger.

copyright source of light ministires  “Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath.” Ephesians 4:26 Control Anger or it will control you.

copyright source of light ministires  Three things we can do with our anger: 1. We can express it. 2. We can suppress it. 3. We can confess it. “Bottled-up anger hurts & keeps on hurting.

copyright source of light ministires  Temper is uncontrolled anger.  It is always wrong.

copyright source of light ministires  DEAL WITH THE CAUSE The ROOT is SELF Under the power of SELF

copyright source of light ministires  Wrong FEELING Come from SELF Someone puts us down We cannot have our own way Someone is honored above us.

copyright source of light ministires

copyright source of light ministires  1. We must see our need. Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, 20 Idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, 21 Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such like: of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. Galatians 5:19-21.

copyright source of light ministires "Let ALL bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamor, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with ALL malice." Ephesians 4:31

copyright source of light ministires  2. We must accept responsibility for our temper.

copyright source of light ministires  3. We must count on our death with Christ. "Reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin (including the sin of temper), but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.“ Romans 6:11

copyright source of light ministires  4. We must deny SELF. “Reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin (including the sin of temper), but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.” Romans 6:11

copyright source of light ministires  Christ alone has the right to rule. Confess Christ as YOUR LORD.

copyright source of light ministires Measure a man by what it takes to make him angry.

copyright source of light ministires  The root cause of temper is SELF. God crucified me with Christ that I might be delivered from my sinful temper.

copyright source of light ministires Book 6  16 Dealing with Anger  17 Reaction and Resentment  18 Turning From Bitterness to Forgiveness

copyright source of light ministires  "Great peace have they which love Thy law: and nothing shall offend them." Psalm 119:165 28

copyright source of light ministires  We cannot control what happens to us but we can control how we respond.

copyright source of light ministires  Example of Joseph Genesis 45:7-8 And God sent me before you to preserve you a posterity in the earth, and to save your lives by a great deliverance. When Joseph told his brothers of his dream, they hated him all the more.

copyright source of light ministires  1. Rudeness or discourtesy. "Why should I let him decide how I am going to act?"  2. Unfair treatment.  3. Hurt pride.  4. Offenses

copyright source of light ministires  5. "Jumped on" by someone.  6. Criticism.  7. Mistakes. Return Kindness

copyright source of light ministires  There is no situation in which anger is my only possible response.

copyright source of light ministires  Overlook offenses.  Clear up misunderstandings promptly.  Reject wrong attitudes quickly.

copyright source of light ministires  “Let not the sun go down upon your wrath: neither give place to the devil.”

copyright source of light ministires  "...Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow His steps...Who, when He was reviled, reviled not again; when He suffered, He threatened not; but committed Himself to Him that judgeth righteously." 1 Peter 2:21, 23

copyright source of light ministires  OUR REACTIONS MUST BE UNDER CHRIST'S CONTROL  "See that none render evil for evil unto any man; but ever follow that which is good...." 1 Thessalonians 5:15  OUR REACTIONS HAVE ETERNAL CONSEQUENCES

copyright source of light ministires  The things that trouble us will pass in time, but our reactions have eternal consequences.

copyright source of light ministires  "Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamor, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake has forgiven you." Ephesians 4:31,32 45

copyright source of light ministires  Resentment is that deep feeling of displeasure or anger that we have toward someone because of a past offense. It is our painful memory of past hurts.

copyright source of light ministires  We feel justified in our resentment.  It makes us feel superior.  We like to “keep score.”  We enjoy our resentments.

copyright source of light ministires  1. Bitterness affects our health.  2. Bitterness affects our mind.  3. Bitterness affects our personality. Hatred makes you a slave to the person you hate.

copyright source of light ministires  4. Bitterness affects our fellowship with God.

copyright source of light ministires  1. Recognize that God is the Judge. "Dearly beloved, avenge not yourselves, but rather give place unto wrath: for it is written, Vengeance is Mine; I will repay, saith the Lord." Romans 12:19  2. Confess your sin to God.

copyright source of light ministires  3. Pass the sentence of death upon resentment and bitterness.  4. Forgive even as Christ has forgiven you. Jesus forgave unilaterally.

copyright source of light ministires  “12. Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering; 13. Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: EVEN AS CHRIST FORGAVE YOU, SO ALSO DO YE.” Colossians 3:12, 13

copyright source of light ministires  3. Pass the sentence of death upon resentment and bitterness.  4. Forgive even as Christ has forgiven you. Jesus forgave unilaterally.

copyright source of light ministires  I am to forgive others, even as Christ forgave me.

copyright source of light ministires  5. Trust the Holy Spirit to make your forgiveness real. "For if ye live after the flesh, ye shall die: but if ye through the Spirit do mortify (make to die) the deeds of the body, ye shall live." Romans 8:13

copyright source of light ministires  "Their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more." Hebrews 8:12

copyright source of light ministires  Remember Joseph.  Our "evils" are never the happenings in themselves, but the effect we allow them to have on us....To the one who fears and doubts, all is evil; to the one who trusts, all is good. Norman Grubb

copyright source of light ministires  "We know that all things work together for good to them that love God...." Romans 8:28

copyright source of light ministires  Resentment and bitterness can make prisoners of us, but forgiveness sets us free.
