2. Why should school psychologists care about data teaming? We bring to the table unique expertise in – Data-Based Decision-Making and Accountability* AND – Consultation and Collaboration* School psychologists can and should provide leadership in creating a data-driven culture in schools and helping staff develop and increase assessment and intervention literacy (Gullikson, 2001; McLeod, 2005) – “If you’re not at the table, you’re on the menu.” *NOTE: These are the 2 aspects identified in the new NASP Model for Comprehensive and Integrated School Psychological Services as permeating all aspects of service delivery.

3. Why should school psychologists care about data coaching? We know that the one- time “spray and pray” approach to training and professional development doesn’t work. (Knight, 2004)

4. What role have school psychologists typically played in data teaming and data coaching? Often leaders on building problem solving teams, but focus typically on teacher and parent referral not systems level data analysis Rarely involved with school or district Professional Learning Community, leadership or improvement teams

5. How can school psychologists become more involved in data teaming and data coaching? Building capacity in school staff through cultivating local data leaders and data teams, providing them easy access to data resources Sustaining systems change through ongoing face-to-face and virtual coaching
