NASA Education FY2007 Budget Packages Program Office Objectives: Complete review of each package as quickly as possible Submit the grant paperwork as quickly as possible Assist consortia in tracking 190+ grant actions (1 st increment, 2 nd increment, ESMD awards, EPSCoR RID, and EPSCoR Research) Provide substantive feedback via telecom or to all consortia Overall Observations: Identified areas for improvement for FY2008 Budget Call (language, tables, etc.) There are some outstanding examples of successful retention strategies, pipeline programs, student success stories, MSI collaborative efforts. 70% of Consortia completed the student tables accurately The majority of Consortia responded very quickly to requests for clarification Most Consortia demonstrated alignment with NASA Outcomes 1, 2, and 3 effectively Areas for Improvement for some consortia Stream-lining results and describing impact succinctly Demonstrative “Evidence of Success”

NASA Education Diversity Status: Diversity Working Group Met in DC on March 1, 2007 Attended by: GA, HI, IN, MI, MN, NC, NH, NV, NY, OH Agenda – Everyone shared a strategy or struggle Recommendations: ♦ Prepare and distribute minutes of meeting ♦ Produce a “Best Practices” document ♦ Engage regularly ♦ Increase the visibility of successful strategies ♦ Break-out sessions at national and regional meetings ♦ Share results of national studies external to NASA Stats from 06 Progress Reports: 88% of Consortia described substantive collaboration with a Minority Serving Institution 62% of Consortia met or exceeded the enrollment percentage for underrepresented minority students 26% of the student awards were to underrepresented minority students (2006 Student Award Summary table) 41% of the student awards were to female students (2006 Student Award Summary table)
